Islam has a rich heritage of scholarship underpinned by a vast corpus of literature, of which only a fraction has been published in Arabic, let alone translated into English. Turath commissions and publishes translations of important classical texts on jurisprudence, ethics, morality, spirituality, and sacred traditions (hadith), that have not been available in English until now. We also commission translations of rare unpublished Arabic manuscripts by some of Islam’s luminaries.

To supplement our publications we run courses delivered by classically trained scholars who are steeped in the traditional sciences, but conversant with modern approaches to learning. In our experience, both traditional and contemporary teaching methods have advantages, and we aim to merge both styles so that the traditional sciences can be presented in a way that is accessible to today’s students.
